I too am currently undertaking the blog comments challenge during August that was the brainchild of Steve King and Jacinta Dean of John Thornhill Masterclass fame! Having said that, I’ve jumped on it very late ’cause of holidays etc etc!
The purpose is to publish one post in the month of August and generate comments accordingly…….well 100 actually!
Oh yeah, but don’t forget to socially bookmark the post after leaving your comment, that would be great
Actually, anything that can get really genuine comments to your blog is a great idea. There are plenty of not so genuine people out there and I happen to know that the community that will respond to this post are special because they have a great pedigree: John, Dave and Alex you know who you are!
So, that said, welcome
Ok, so this is going to be a very short post!
For a bit of fun, I’ve just joined a free site that uses the “Power of Six”…to drive traffic. If you want to know more, then click traffic.com/5qi" target="_blank">HERE!
Of course, what we all really want are loyal subscribers and as we have to create a relationship first, in the real world, that takes hard work and dedication on our part-this is not a replacement for that process!
Just a bit of fun.
Will it work? I have no idea, but hey…….:)
It’s a mystery!

Good idea with the short post Mike, it helps all of us visiting 100 blogs.
I only had a quick look at the ‘power of six’ but I’m willing to bet you get far more visitors from the 100 comment challenge.
The calculations the site uses remind me of MLM or Pyramid systems. The numbers look great, but if they really worked everyone in the world would end up subscribing.
Although the ‘power of six’ is free, don’t forget to account for the TIME you spend on it, it could be more productively spent elsewhere. Just a thought, I hope you prove me wrong.
Good luck with the 100 comment challenge Mike.

Hi Mike,
Nice and short post explaining what you’ve been doing and why you joined the contest later.
As for the link and the page it leads to I see very little point in joining schemes like that. What is the point of getting traffic that is not real?
Why go to so many sites and wait for 15 seconds on each? To get that kind of visitors doing the same on my blog?
A million visitors who do nothing but wait for 15 seconds?
Nice try.
Vance

Hi Vance
Fair enough.
It was really just a quick thought and as it was free and had some relevance I thought I would add it.
I could do with a million visitors-even for 15 seconds

[Reply]
[...] http://mike-calmot.com/blog/us.....e-traffic/ [...]
The only trouble with a “million” visitors is that unusual surges in traffic might crash your site. A rather unfortunate side effect. Slow and steady wins the race. Making connections and building community online is still really important just like in the real world.

Hi Mike
I have just read your post and I am here to help. I love when people accept challenges because I love being part of it.
A little about me – My name is Sue McDonald and I am a student of Mark Terrell and I am actually going through the course a second time – by invitation. I love it and know if I do all he says, I will be successful. I am Australian but the US is my second home as I have family there and visit quite often. This is why I started Internet Marketing so I can travel whenever I want and have the money to do what I want.
Well I hope you are doing well and you become very successful. I would love you to come visit my blog and leave a comment.

I am passionate about helping them achieve and then they are able to make some money online exactly the same as I am doing. It is not really difficult as long as they are willing to put in the effort.
Keep up the good work.

My head is still spinning from all the differnent offers that I have come across proclaiming miraculous results in traffic generation. Apology for my scepticism but if it was that easy we would all be wealthy. I think it still comes down to building relationships and trust with your followers and if people trust you and you provide value, they will more than likely want to buy from you.

I agree with you 100%.
This method (should it even work) is not meant to be a substitute for that process, just a bit of fun.
I suppose, what I would add, is that once you’ve had an influx of sign-ups, you would surely still be able to work at building relationships in the normal way?
I’m sure the rate of attrition would be huge, but that process would remain the same

The power of 6 is a great concept. We have the power of 100 going on our blogs right now!! THAT’S where the relationship building is!
It looks to be a traffic exchange, something like safelists and banner exchanges where people just click and click to get credits to be able to send their promo to other people who aren’t going to read their emails anyway.
Let us know how it goes? Did you put your squeeze page in there so you can collect emails for your efforts?

Hi Mike
Long time no speak!
How are you?
I took a look at the ‘power of six’ traffic generation tool, it reminded me of a traffic tool I tried a couple of years back where you were credited with points for visiting other participants links. You had to stay on each site for 10 seconds to get your points and your points total entitled you to traffic to your own site.
I spent hours visiting sites to build up my points until I realized that everyone else in the scheme was doing exactly what I was doing, spending 10 seconds on each of hundreds of random sites with no interest in the individual sites whatsoever.
My favorite ways to drive traffic are;
article marketing
blog commenting
forum posting
building JV relationships
(not necessarily in that order)

As Vance pointed out I don’t really want to be visiting many blogs for 15 seconds only to get a code and place my site on top of a list.
I feel it would be a waste of time and the visitors I received would not really engage with me on my blog and me on theirs.

Hey Mike, the million visitor tools looks interesting. Many visitors may just breeze through without reading or open the pages in 6 extra tabs, wait the 15 seconds and then add their own link.
Using a statistical approach though, if you get 1% of those million visitors actually interested in your offer then 10,000 people signing up would certainly be worth the effort. Even if it was 0.1%, an extra 1000 sign-ups can’t be dismissed as trivial.
I signed up so you only 9 more from your link and you’re at the next level

Hi Mike, It’s nice to meet you and check out a million free visitors site. You’re right the program is a leap of faith. It’s really not so much the quantity of traffic marketers are after, it’s more the quality, e.g., targeted search traffic and backlinks with high page rank, and subscriber traffic and jv promotional traffic. There is one thing for sure that a million visitors free program would accomplish – higher Alexa ranking – which could in turn increase the resale value of the domain but if the page rank is low the value of the website won’t have much resale value. Moving traffic to websites is critical for internet businesses and countless ebooks have been written on the subject. The 100 comment challenge is one of those eboooks in a way. The only difference is there doesn’t have to be an ending after Aug. 31. Be well, Steve D.

Hi Steve
Well I hope it doesn’t all end on the 31st!
Thanks for your very comprehensive comment. Its seems to me that on page and off page SEO is an art rather than a science anyway…..
Quality traffic, well, that’s something else
Best wishes

Hi Mike,
I agree with Andreas! The next challenge I create will be a lot less in numbers! Definite bimbo comment on my behalf. I had no idea on the workload it was going to create! A big Oops on that one!
Although in saying that I have about 30 more blogs to get to and I have visited everyone. I am making my comments and then I will be coming back again in the next few days. I am doing a comment table as I go around to see who has commented on whos’ blogs.
Nothing like blog hopping in my sleep. I think I will be blog hopped out at the end of this!
Thank you so much for mentioning the challenge and I do hope you are having fun with it!
Hopefully everyone will get to everyone’s blogs very soon and we all succeed together! It is up to the contributors now!
See you back here soon!
Cheers
Jacinta
